So now I really can’t decide on my costume, I could still be Lara Croft if I really wanted to but she doesn’t have a crossbow… Decisions.

So I was going to the Halloween store to buy a flimsy bow and arrow to cosplay Lara Croft for Halloween but I sorta maybe bought something else… I have no regrets. The workers were so nice and happy I think I made the right choice. I can pull of Lara Croft any day but it’s Daryl Dixon we’re talking about here!! Ahhhhh!

It’s official I need a job so bad, I miss having money and spending it without a care. I’m just afraid wherever I apply they won’t be flexible with my schedule. My classes require a lot of studying and having a job might get in the way. The struggle of a broke college student: A memoir lol omg I’m talking to myself again. What am I even doing on tumblr I have a test tomorrow morning ugh..

RiSE Festival - Mojave Desert.

This weekend was one I will truly never forget. As soon as we got the news last week that one of my family friends had to sell their tickets to RiSE Festival, we did whatever we could to make a last-minute road trip to the border of California and Nevada to experience this lantern festival. Early Saturday morning we left to make a stop at the hotel we stayed at to meet up with friends and at five boarded a shuttle to take us to our destination. When it comes to traveling I think the most exciting part is how you get there and the journey itself. Here we were all packed on a bus traveling through the middle of the desert and none of us had a clue where exactly we were headed. The excitement just continue to grow as the minutes passed by. We eventually ended up on a narrow dirt road and saw all the shuttles letting passengers out to a lit up area surrounded by absolutely nothing but flat land and mountains. As soon as we got off, it was that perfect time during a sunset where all the clouds are tinted shades of purples and pinks. We managed to snap a few photos before the sun completely vanished and walked a mile to get into the festival itself. Once we were inside, we started collecting our thoughts that we wanted to write and share on our lanterns. We each received two so my first one was for parts of the past I wanted to let go of and for the second I shared all of my hopes and dreams for the future. I know may sound so cheesy and cliche but it was nice to finally let go and move forward. As we were writing on our lanterns there was a live band performing and it really set in the whole mood for this event. Around 9pm we all started to prepare for the first of lanterns to be released. Everyone gathered around their torches and started to light their lanterns and as they counted down all these lanterns filled the night sky. An huge dome of light just covered the entire ground of the festival and there was so much overwhelming joy in the air as you can hear people cheering with the most calming music playing in the background. Everyone in my group was in tears over how insanely beautiful it was just watching it all float away in the distance. It’s one of those things that’s hard to perfectly put into words to give a visual of what it was like especially when photos itself will never be able to live up to what it’s like seeing it in person. It’s something straight out of a dream and felt very surreal. During this trip I tried my best to document it all in photos and videos, but caught myself really living in the moment as it started to happen. I hope that everyone gets to experience a moment as beautiful and inspiring as this at some point. It was definitely by far the best night of my life.
